In the third chapter, Lluís Bassat, advertiser, founder of the advertising agency Bassat & Asociados, in Barcelona, which was later renamed Bassat Ogilvy as it was owned by the multinational Ogilvy & Mather. In 2004 he appeared on a list of "The most influential men in advertising."
Currently, Lluís Bassat is Honorary Chairman of the Bassat Ogilvy Group and Member of the Board of Directors of Ogilvy Worldwide, as well as Chairman of the WPP Group. He is also a member of the Board of Directors and the Creative Council of Ogilvy Worldwide, he belongs to the Boards of Directors of important Telecommunications companies.
Throughout his career he has obtained numerous awards: he is Doctor Honoris Causa by the Faculty of Communication and Humanities of the European University of Madrid and Honorary Member of the European Superior Council of Doctors Honoris Causa. He has been awarded the Best Professional Career Award by Dossier Econòmic de Catalunya and has been voted "The most influential man in advertising in 2004" according to a survey carried out exclusively by Marketing Directo.com among 12,000 professionals.
Likewise, Lluis Bassat has received from his Majesty the King the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit, awarded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the most important civil decoration awarded in Spain. He has won more than 400 national and international advertising awards, highlighting the "Best Spanish Advertiser of the 20th Century" award from El Publicista magazine, or his election as "The Best Latin American Advertiser of the 20th Century" by the Latin American Association of Advertising Agencies. Author of two of the basic and fundamental manuals within the advertising world: "The Red Book of Advertising" and "The Red Book of Brands", his latest publication, "Commercial Intelligence" alludes to several essential concepts: the value of defending the "value" of a thing, trust that the seller must offer to the consumer and teamwork.
Lluis Bassat was the first Spaniard to chair the Jury at the Cannes Film Festival and his interest in social issues has led him to become President of the Carmen Foundation and dedicate himself to helping people in need. An expert lecturer, his personal example as a businessman and self-made man motivates the audience. His message is based on the fact that one person with the right equipment can achieve any goal.
