Recently, from Saltor Talent, we have worked on the project of selecting some of the key positions of a large European multinational in the retail sector.
1. What was the challenge?
It is a multinational with a turnover of more than 20 BN USD, with a global presence, and at a time of decentralization, evolving from a centralized global headquarter model , to a regional headquarters model.
Due to this moment of reorganization, the company decides to locate a regional hub in Barcelona , from which different countries will be led in addition to Spain.
2. What did we do and how did we do it?
We needed to first analyze the structure of its main competitors, to make proposals on the best structure and key positions within the new regional hub.
Secondly, we focused on finding profiles that provide product knowledge and could provide a differential approach to customers.
After an in-depth analysis of the market, and the identification of profiles both nationally and internationally, we present a group of six possible candidates. All of them had diverse experiences, but they brought a great knowledge of the sector and type of product of our client.
What everyone agreed on, as we thoroughly evaluated throughout the process, was the fit with the company’s values, especially in terms of diversity, global mindset, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.
3. The final solution
The company, after interviewing six profiles and conducting a second interview with four of them, opted for two finalists, who were hired in two key positions.
These are two people with experience in some of the main competing companies, and who precisely bring a different vision of product and customer focus.
As we usually do in these processes, we are continuously monitoring their incorporation, and customer and candidate satisfaction is very high.
One of the keys to success in this project was to carry out a first exhaustive analysis of the competition, to propose a departmental structure as efficient as possible, and secondly, to focus the search for profiles in competing companies with a different market approach.
